UGG Fuzz Sugar Slide Sandal Review

A few months ago I bought a pair of slippers from UGG called the Fuzz Sugar slide sandals. They look like fuzzy clogs (minus any wood or leather), and they feel like the ideal lightweight, cozy platform slippers for winter. The UGG Sugar collection is made of plant-based (carbon neutral) low-impact materials, so if making smarter purchases and reducing your environmental footprint (pun not intended) are important to you, then this style is one to consider.

The UGG Fuzz Sugar slides proved so popular that they sold out quickly and disappeared completely from the UGG website. Until now, that is. As of February 12, the natural and black colorways have just been restocked. They will sell out quickly. Unfortunately, the shell pink and hickory colorways (pictured below) are unavailable at the time of this writing.

I wear my UGG Fuzz Sugar slides several days per week, and I'll be sharing my thoughts on quality and sizing in this review.

Packaging and Materials

The UGG Fuzz Sugar slides come in a plain box that opens with two flaps. Unlike other UGG shoes, there is no hologram authenticity tag inside the left shoe. This is because UGG used 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers to make the size tags. If you feel it, it has a grainy, thick texture. Perhaps they weren't able to print a hologram on this material.

Appearance and Performance

The UGG Sugar slides are platform slippers, so if you're looking for a comfortable 2" boost in height, these are worth the $110 price tag. The outsole is  made of SugarSole™ foam (made with renewable sugarcane), which is so light and easy to walk in that your feet will thank you when you slide these on. The uppers are made of cozy 10mm curly plush (50% upcycled wool, 50% TENCEL™ Lyocell). It does flatten quickly with wear, so I recommend brushing it regularly to keep it more fluffy. The uppers keep your feet secure when walking, and they're so comfortable and cute that you may want to wear them to work/school etc. The soles have enough traction to make them outdoor-ready, but I would not wear them in rain or snow.

Quality and Sizing

Some buyers have reported that these run small, but in my experience (I've tried on many pairs), the UGG Fuzz Sugar slides run true to size. After wearing them a few times, they will break in, and the lining will flatten. I prefer to wear mine with socks, and the wool blend lining does a good job of keeping my feet warm on cold nights. The soles manage to be both lightweight and durable, so if you're on your feet a lot, these will perform well over time. They do not come in half sizes, so if you're unsure or you wear a half size, then size up, especially if you plan to wear them with socks.

UGG Disquette Slippers review

As a fan of platforms, I welcomed the debut of the height-boosting UGG Disquette slippers in Fall 2021 with excitement. If you're familiar with the UGG product line, the Disquette slippers are somewhat like the UGG Funkette slippers, although without the ankle strap. Alternatively, the Disquette is like the Scuffette slipper with a pumped-up streetwear sole.

The Disquette delivers all the comfort that you expect from UGG. Keep reading for an UGG Disquette review with tips on fit, quality, and sizing.

The chestnut colorway pictured below is the most popular.

Appearance and Performance

The Disquette features the classic sheepskin collar, lining, and insole for maximum comfort and a plush feel. The platform gives you an extra inch of height, which I like. The slippers have the Treadlite sole, which makes them suitable to wear indoors and outdoors. Unlike the Scuffette and Coquette slippers, these have outdoor-ready traction and more durability. If you're not used to walking in platforms, these may take an adjustment period.

Fit and Sizing

The UGG Disquette runs slightly small. If you have wide feet or you are between sizes, go up. Like most UGG styles, the sheepskin will flatten with wear and the shoes will stretch up a little bit. If you're going to wear these with socks, I advise going up one size.

UGG came out with a new Disquette style featuring a chopped UGG logo. It's aptly named the Disquette Chopd.
