I spent Friday night at WeWitItLa's EmergeLA event in the Silverlake area. After driving past the inconspicuous venue twice and finally entering via a dark alley, I was pleased to see a mix of local fashion designers, artists, bands, and vintage clothing dealers. Naturally, as a clothes horse, I was drawn to the vintage apparel.  I came very close to buying a sweater from Vintage Grime that was printed with pink and green Scottish terriers, as well as a studded denim vest from Annie Su.  At the event, I had the chance to watch a few rock bands, admire the stylishly diverse crowd, browse the colorful artwork, and meet and chat with fellow southern California bloggers ChrisSheryl, and Selena, in addition to local fashion designer Melissa Velia, who is pictured above wearing a pretty mesh polka dot top from her line.  Now that's it's October, I'm beginning to look forward to picking a Halloween costume and to attending more fashion events, in particular, some of the L.A. Fashion Week shows and parties that will be taking place in a couple of weeks.  I promise that Sheryl and I did not color coordinate our red and black outfits; it's a complete coincidence that we match!
