Fashion at Santa Monica's Forever 21

Of all the Forever 21 locations that I've shopped over the years, the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade location has always impressed me with its neat and orderly merchandising and ahead-of-the-curve selection. Yes, even on a Friday night at 8pm, this store manages to be well-stocked and pristine, which is no easy feat, given the store's high profile location. This weekend the Santa Monica Forever 21 store played host to an intimate but lively blogger preview party with cake pops, a nail bar, a D.I.Y. jewelry station, and lots of fashionable L.A. ladies who came out to celebrate the new store's new expansion.

So what were my "blogger crushes" for the night?

Forever 21 blue floral wedges

Forever 21 spring 2012 brights, Forever 21 peach jeans, neon fashion trend

Forever 21 patchwork handbag

I had my eye on the shoes, naturally! The floral wedges are at the top of my spring wish list, as were the perfect-for-spring brightly colored tops, peach skinny jeans, and a patchwork handbag that would look right at home at a music festival with a floral maxi dress and floppy hat.

Fresh from the D.I.Y. table with Nicole

Forever 21 rhinestone D.I.Y. headband

Although I did get distracted by the shoes and apparel, I was able to chat with Kristen at the D.I.Y. station and ask her to D.I.Y. some Prada flame heels. With my weakness for footwear and my current preoccupation with Miuccia's retro car prints and 1950s references, I'd love to see that.

My finished D.I.Y. project was this headband that I embellished with bright yellow nail polish, which you may have seen if you follow on Instagram. Jewelry and nail polish? Slightly unexpected for a D.I.Y. novice like myself, but potentially addicting. Given the large quantities of Forever 21 jewelry and the array of nail colors that I stockpile, this might spark some future D.I.Y. projects.
