Ah, what an interesting place the annual county fair is.  It's where you can go bungee jumping, eat deep fried Oreos or chocolate-covered bacon, see concerts, observe vendors sell the most random merchandise, dress up in period garb and take photos, pet livestock, win oversized stuffed animals, watch pigs race, or ride a mechanical bull.  Although I'm not one to gravitate towards loud noises, jolting rides, or rigged festival games, I do enjoy some of the other offerings of the fair. Amidst the blur of activity and bright lights, there is a host of junk food to indulge in, plenty of people watching, lots of gadgets and apparel to browse, and a wide variety of arts and crafts.  This year afforded me the chance to watch Pat Benatar perform for the first time.  After growing up with her music, it was an amazing experience. Due to her incredible passion and energy for live music and interacting with the audience, it was well worth the $12 fair admission ticket I paid.
