I'm wearing two current favorites in my closet - a basic cable knit sweater with distressed skinny jeans - to use as a blank canvas of sorts. This allows the accessories to take center stage.
My first essential fall accessory is the printed scarf. I did like the locals and I made liberal use of scarves during my spring trip to Paris in order to keep warm and add more personality to my looks. This infinity style is a no-branier to wear. Just loop it around twice and you're ready to go. Or wear it looped once for a longer, more carefree look. Style tip: it can also be draped over the head for a hood/scarf combo if you're more daring!
Another essential accessory for fall is the versatile carry-all handbag. Whether you're bringing it to back to school or to work, it has to be big enough to fit all of your daily necessities. Style tip: do swap out your black handbag for an unexpectedly bright one in a cheerful color! Don't be afraid to let your bag be the centerpiece of your outfit. I love how the studs on this bag complement the studded ankle boots, but they don't compete because of the varying sizes and patterns.
If you know my style, then you're aware of how excessive my ankle boot collection is. I always appreciate studs and buckles as footwear embellishments, and this pair has a rock 'n' roll vibe that speaks to my personal style. The light color is a fresh update for fall, and the low heels make them comfortable for days on the go. Style tip: wear ankle boots with everything from cropped denim and leggings to mini dresses and maxi skirts. They make dressy pieces look more casual and they lend an edgy vibe to denim ensembles.
