Twin Tuesday - The Midi Skirt

In this installment of Twin Tuesday, Toni and I are featuring an article of clothing that I adore but wear far too seldom -  the midi skirt. Here's a preview of how we both styled our skirts.

We didn't coordinate our outfits, but I love that we both styled looks with high heels and saturated hues of red and blue. I'm continually inspired by Toni's ultra feminine looks and her ladylike sense of style.

Admittedly, the midi skirt is an item that I've found to be tricky for me. If the length is too long, it makes me look shorter; if the length is too short and it hits at the biggest part of the calf, it risks look dowdy and doesn't flatter my legs. I've learned that the trick for me is to pair the skirt with a crop top to highlight the waist, add heels to lengthen the legs, and make sure the skirt hits at the just the right part of the leg, i.e, below the widest part of the calf but above the ankle.

I picked this skirt up at a thrift store, and as is the case with a few of the items that I've thrifted, I discovered that it's actually homemade. Luckily, the waist fits just right, but I did have to hem a few inches off the bottom to get my preferred length.
