Platforms and Plaid
Marni at H&M T-shirt and white bracelet, H&M tweed blazer, Duro Olowu for JCP shorts, and platform heels c/o Luichiny
When I first tried on these shorts for my Duro Olowu for JCPenney review, I wanted to like them. I had even imagined some print mixing ensembles with them in mind. Unfortunately, the long length deterred me from making the purchase.
Fast forward a few weeks and the idea to buy them and chop off a few inches from the hemline rapidly evolved into an obsession. So I made the purchase, and after a few minutes with my sewing machine, I finally had the shorts at a satisfactory length. Sometimes a personalized revision is all you need to make a piece work.
I've styled the shorts with another capsule collection that I'm still enamored with - the Marni at H&M line from last spring. Both collections made liberal use of graphic prints, offbeat color palettes, and quirky styling for a global traveler vibe that speaks to my need for print and color.
