Mossimo owl sweater (sold out, but adorable styles here and here), Old Navy peacoat (modern version), Else jeans, Aldo handbag, and Mossimo cap toe pumps

I'm trying to channel simple Parisian glamour in a classic peacoat with cropped skinnies and cap toe pumps. While my first instinct on brisk fall days may be to reach for cozy and comfortable ankle boots, there's something undeniably chic about the combination of pumps with cropped skinny jeans.

The wool peacoat is one that's been in my closet for about a decade, which in retrospect, makes it one of my best purchases ever in terms of cost per wear. It's kept me warm on many a cold night throughout the years. The longevity of its classic silhouette and sturdy wool construction has me repeatedly wishing that I'd also bought it in red, gray, and navy.

My style must be evolving; as much as I adore seasonal trends, I'm gaining a newfound respect for simple wardrobe classics.

Ok, now our similarities are starting to scare me. Your last sentence is EXACTLY what I just wrote Thursday's post about. But then I changed it. LOL. I decided not to label myself as venturing toward the more "classic" side of fashion yet. But I've been seeing myself drawn to pieces like that more and more.

It would be evident in my shopping spree when I was in so cal last week. I bought two classic coats, and a clean white blazer. And not to mention the array of "grown up tops" I've purchased over the last few months. Maybe it's because I've turned 30 that I feel I need to dress the part.

Anyway, I definitely understand where you're coming from and I'm in love with that coat and those heels! So chic and classy! <3

I loooove those shoes, they are gorgeous! Are they comfortable? And I'm with you, I am definitely starting to appreciate wardrobe classics a lot more than I did even just a year ago. It's nice to invest in something that you know will look chic for years to come!
