This summer I've been inspired by minimal ensembles everywhere from people I spot on the street to images I glimpse on Instagram and Pinterest. By minimal, I mean no print mixing, layering, or unpredictably paired pieces. Just basics with a twist. For instance, this basic ivory sweater actually shows some restraint on my behalf, considering that my first thought was to wear a contrasting floral print top with the shorts. Regarding silhouettes, the combination of fitted shorts with a roomy top and heels is still a go-to summer look for me. I find the juxtaposition of short shorts with a loose knit or roomy blouse to be a refreshing and seasonally appropriate change of pace from my oft-worn skinny jeans and ankle boots.

I love that we own so much of the same items! It gives me such inspiration on how to style it. Those shorts are seriously cute and I too love slim shorts with a blousy top. It definitely balances out the look as well as amps down the "sexy" factor. The weather must still be nice in so cal to wear jeans and boots! My constant thought is, "how can I look stylish and wear the least amount of clothing as possible?" LOL. Hope you had a great weekend! <3
