D.I.Y. Denim Squared

When I tell my friends and family that I can't stop studding, I'm not kidding. I'm almost finished with the bag of 1,100 studs that I bought on eBay recently. Everything from old Converse to random chambray shirts in my closet have not escaped my stud-happy hands. Below, a casual look with D.I.Y. studded cutoffs in which I revived some of my all-time favorite boots from Topshop purchased circa 2010.

Above: Ray-Bans, Forever 21 top and fringe sweater (cute sweater alternate in ivory or orange), DIY studded shorts (black distressed version I adore), Boohoo bag (similar), and Topshop boots

For the second denim D.I.Y., I customized a pair of MINKPINK Slasher shorts for their Suped Up Slashers contest. My inspiration was the Southwest, and admittedly, I went wild using bold colors and mixed prints. First I sewed fabric on one side and then lined the edges with studs. Then I sewed the red print trim to the side seams and above the back yoke for added contrast and visual interest. I used a few extra studs near the pockets and a colorful belt for the final touches.

I styled the shorts with the usual suspects (ankle boots, a fringe handbag, and my favorite rings) along with a top that I scored on sale at Zara. Is my Southwest inspiration apparent enough?

Like what I did with my shorts? Well you can vote for it on MINKPINK's Facebook page

Zara top (similar), gifted MINKPINK shorts, Mossimo bag, assorted jewelry and GoJane boots (black leather version)

I LOVE those MinkPink shorts!! You did an amazing job. I love the fabric and the studs, but I think the red trim is my favorite. It does give it something extra. And I'm slightly jealous that you're wearing a sweater in the first photo. It makes me hot just thinking of wearing that here. LOL. I can't wait for fall! <3
