My High Street Hits
This lace dress that I picked up at the Topshop flagship in London a few months ago is proving to be more versatile than expected. For casual days, I wear it with brogues, an oversized floral handbag, and a well-worn utility jacket. I dressed it up for a wedding earlier this month with my Steve Madden Shazzam look-alike heels, a shimmery gold belt, and sparkly jewelry. My favorite way to style it though, is with my prized River Island floral wedges and a brown braided belt.
The wedges first caught my eye in late spring while perusing more than one British magazine which featured them. To my disdain, River Island does not ship to the United States (I'm waiting patiently for this to change), so I placed them at the top of my British high street shopping list when I knew I'd be in London. Despite being afflicted with a mild case of jet lag upon arrival, I admit to running over to the display when I saw these at the second River Island store I visited during one very productive shopping day on the Oxford High Street.
Every once in a while Asos stocks covetable pieces from River Island, but not enough to satisfy me. For now, I try my best to avoid browsing the River Island site, because knowing there are things I'd like to buy but can't is purely exasperating. On the other hand, though, it's a reliable source of inspiration.
