I managed to score a fringe biker jacket for a song on eBay a few weeks ago and had been waiting for sufficiently cool weather to wear it. Just my luck that cool, overcast weather came sooner than the start of fall. To my chagrin, though, the jacket reeks faintly of an undetermined odor which can best be described as an old, smoky motel room. Despite my best efforts to remove and mask the odor, it persists. (Lesson learned - ask before buying on eBay if a vintage garment has an odor!)
My next move is to spritz my favorite perfume into a plastic bag and then wrap the jacket in it for a week. I welcome any suggestions you may have for removing old odors on leather, as I'm smitten with the fit and otherwise good condition of the jacket, and plan on wearing it often.
